If you haven’t bought your mom a Mother’s Day gift yet (or any mother you’re buying for this year), we figured you could use a post today on gift ideas for Mother’s Day. We drew from our post “What Things Do You Own That You Heartily Recommend As Gift Ideas?” from late last year — and if you haven’t seen it, definitely check out the comments for some great ideas for any occasion, in all sorts of categories.

This year, we’re getting my mom a ticket to Hamilton for a combination birthday/Mother’s Day gift (and that option was mentioned several times in the gift ideas post linked above). The two of us and my husband are actually going on Mother’s Day, which wasn’t really on purpose but will be nice.

We’ve recommended Soma’s sleepwear line before — Kat mentioned it in pajamas for grownups, for one — and several readers have praised them in the comments over the years. They’re designed to be soft, comfortable, and breathable, and to feel cool against your skin. (Note: These are nice for any mom but are especially good for older women you know who are going through perimenopause/menopause.) The line offers separates, sleepshirts, chemises, nightgowns, and robes in sizes XS–XXL. Prices range from $21 (sale price) to $78; the pictured tee and pants are each $38. Online orders may not make it in time (unless you pay $16.95 for two-day shipping); otherwise, visit one of the 300 in the U.S.

(Check out our post on readers’ favorite cruelty-free beauty products.) It’s a bit pricey; at Nordstrom, prices range from $11–$78 for 2.5- to 33.8-oz. sizes. (Right now there’s a Gift with Purchase — four samples — with a Kiehl’s purchase of $85+ at Nordstrom.) It is also available at at the same price range.
