An alliance with Royal Philips is intended to help University of Vermont Health Network improve population health.
Under a new 10-year partnership that further extends an existing relationship, Philips and the University of Vermont Health will implement a suite of new technologies including imaging systems, ultrasound, patient monitoring and clinical informatics, along with consulting services to help the delivery system better integrate workflows for a more seamless patient experience.
“By working together as a network and relying on innovative technology, we will be able to provide the highest quality care to our patients,” says John Brumsted, MD, president and CEO of UVM Health Network, which operates six hospitals in Vermont and northern New York. “Leveraging technology will help our clinical staff provide the best care at the bedside throughout the network.”
Additional help from Philips will enable the organization to streamline workflows, optimize medical technology deployment, break down data silos and give staff information to improve patient care.
The vendor further will support UVM’s supply chain and work with the suppliers to ensure cost management as the organization moves toward achieving the Triple AIM of improving the patient experience, improving population health and reducing costs, says Charlie Miceli, chief supply officer and network vice president.
“Philips know how to assess the life cycle of assets across the enterprise and when it is time to bring in new technologies, bring in new ways to improve the efficiency of imaging departments, how to better streamline workflows, and they also bring in operational management and engineers, he adds. “We have folks on the ground in product development and research which will bring our expertise out into New York.”
Philips can show clinicians and staff how to make MRIs less daunting for patients with ways to speed imaging and then turn around results and get them to doctors quickly,” Miceli says. “The company even takes care of other vendors’ machines or devices.”
